H1N1 in Thailand

I don't know why the number of cases keep increasing everyday. It's like more than 100 cases being reported everyday and the death toll has also increased to 12 by today.

The police whose name was not revealed was traffic police of Bang Na police station.

He succumbed to the flu on Thursday after being admitted to Police Hospital. He had also suffered from complication of kidney failure.

Thai Public Health Ministry on Thursday reported 211 new cases of the flu, bringing number of the cases in the country to 2,725.45

I know that most people are aware of H1N1, and some are wearing masks in public, use a lot of antiseptic gel and etc, but the number is still increasing.

When my boy was sick the past few days, we brought him to the pediatrician to rule out if it's influenza 2009 too. Thank god he's just having the normal flu and tummy bug and he's alright now.

A lot of the cases involved school children, so we can't take this lightly. Not that we are over panic about it, but I think we need to take extra precaution. So I shall postpone my plan of sending the kids to art and piano lessons until the influenza is under control.

A Busy Day

It's almost 3pm now and believe it or not, it's only now that I have the time to sit at my laptop, sip a cup of coffee and start to write something on one of my blogs. I was totally occupied from morning till now, and I had really bad mood. It's nice to spend some time at home with my kids, but both of them have been totally cranky today, especially since my boy is not feeling well.

To make the matter worse, I've caught the flu bug from him and my head is spinning wild the whole day. Gee...being a mother is great, but if you don't have help at home like me, you just can't afford to fall sick!

So, even if I'm already in a comfort zone in handling my kids, who are already in preschool, I really dread the thought of going for another baby. I've known quite a lot about pregnancy and baby care, but I can't imagine myself getting busier and busier with more children! LOL!

Nonetheless, I'm glad that there are a lot of resourceful parenting advice available online, and it's always great to read some useful tips about how to be a better parent. I really need to find a way to be more patient, and how to handle 2 kids at home when I'm not feeling very well!

Playing Music

My kids have been telling me that they would love to learn the piano and violin, but they are too young for it. Over here, most music schools only take in children after 6 years old, and those younger children can only attend group music classes. Parents are required to join in the class, but I can't understand Thai very well, so I didn't enroll my kids. Furthermore, the same course is costing me triple the price, as comparing to Malaysia, and it's too costly! So, I shall wait until my kids are older first and enroll them for music instrument classes.

Frankly, I can't remember how to play the piano and organ, and even if you give me a few pieces of Free Sheet Music, I doubt that I can remember the notes. LOL! I wonder if hubby can still play Free Sheet Music? He can play pretty well last time, but just like me, we stopped playing music. :P

I hope that our kids can pick up music next time when they are older. Then, maybe we will get them some Free Sheet Music.

MIL Got Robbed

Hubby told me that MIL got robbed recently, when she was at the wet market on her own. I'm quite shocked to hear that, considering that the wet market is a very crowded place! She lost her necklace, but her jade pendant fell on the ground and she managed to keep that. It's one of the few things MIL's mother left for her, when she passed away, so it's very precious to her.

I'm glad to hear that she's not hurt but just lost a gold necklace. I guess if I have more money for buying gold, I would prefer to go for gold investing instead of getting a jewelry for myself. I hardly wear jewelry anyway, and I only keep them in safe deposit. Besides that, I was robbed once, and that's enough for me!

Jaspal June & July 2009 New Arrivals

I got a few catalogs scattered around on my desk, and the more I look at them, the more I'm tempted to shop. LOL!

So, I made a trip to Jaspal yesterday to check out the new arrivals. I must say, most of the items are lovely, and I found that some of the items are cheaper than their usual price. A pair of trousers are only about THB1500, and it's way below the normal Jaspal's price. So, I grabbed these new pieces yesterday...

Nonetheless, I bought other colors for those in the left column.

Now, I wonder if I should get these too...

God, please bless me (or precisely, my hubby) with more $$$!

Shopping at Mini Made in Thailand Fair

We went to the Mini Made in Thailand fair last weekend, which was held at Impact Muang Thong Thani. It's always nice to shop at fairs like this as most of the things are pretty cheap, if you compare them to market price.

We bought some toys again!

My kids had a really good time at the toy section, but comparing to BIG / BIH, there were lesser booths selling toys here.

Clothes, Thai Silk, beauty and spa products, and handicrafts from Thailand.

I did some shopping too, and most of the clothes wholesalers here have stores at Platinum Fashion Mall or Chatuchak. Nonetheless, the choice of clothes is way much lesser than Platinum and Chatuchak! So, it's still best to go to these 2 places for serious shopping. LOL! Anyway, I was not in the mood for clothes that day...

Local fruits!

Our main purpose was to get some local fruits, especially durians! But too bad, the durians are too raw to us, as most Thai people don't eat ripe durians. They don't like durians when it smells and soft. Serious! That's why they pluck the durian from the trees, while we wait for the durians to drop. LOL! Nonetheless, we bought a few bags of fruits and other delicacies.

Food tasting is widely available, and I bought those packs of naturally colored rice.

I'm a bento-er, so the moment I saw those color rice packs, I knew that I should get a few packs home! I haven't tried it out yet, but I think the rice will be nice for colorful sushi. Stay tune for more update at my bento blog. :P

After hours of walking and shopping in the big hall, I went to rest my feet and learned cupcake decoration at one of the many booths here.

It's fun to learn , and it's FOC! That's the sifu who taught me how to decorate the cake with cream piping bags.

My creation is not that nice huh? LOL! But it's fun. I should get my hands on cake decoration, if I have the time!

So, what's the next fair at Impact Muang Thong Thani? :) I hope that I won't miss the fashion fair again!

Back to Silai

I told my hubby that I was so happy when my mom was here, and I felt like I was a tai tai. LOL! I didn't have much to do at home, and I had so much free time for myself. But then, my mom flew back home yesterday, and I am going back to my "normal" life. Ah...good time always ends too soon.

With my mom here, my kids and I were badly spoiled with her cooking, and baking, so all of us gained weight. LOL! Too bad I didn't have any weight loss pills at home, if not I might be able to control my weight. So, I better start watching my diet.

With my being busy with everything at home, my stress level should increase again. Thus, I better find some time for a nice spa and massage before the busy weekend starts.
